My Tips to Help You Prepare For The New Year
2022 is right around the corner. Am I the only one who feels like the past two years have been grouped together in a buy one get one free bundle? No? Okay, just making sure. With the current year winding down and the new approaching, a lot of us are considering so much.
How will we make the best of the new year? Will there be new people, things and places that manifest in your life come 2022? Most importantly, you’re probably thinking about getting organized right now to effectively prepare for the upcoming year. As you’re mapping out your 2022 preparation plan, I want you to release any pressure to be anyone other than who you are in this present moment. I wrote about releasing the pressure to perform or achieve before the new year. You can read more by clicking below.
Releasing The Pressure To Perform and Achieve
As we inch closer and closer to the end of the year, many will start to feel more and more pressure to perform and announce accomplishments. There is something about the pressure to prove that you were better than who you were before the year started that will make you run yourself ragged.
Whether your list of things to accomplish this upcoming year is big or small, I believe a more practical approach to everything truly helps to lessen any unwanted feels of stress. Here are four ways to prepare for 2022.
Let Go of Feeling Pressured
I know I’ve said this already and even wrote about it, but this is one of the most important reminders when preparing for the new year. You are not obligated to outdo yourself or anyone else. Nobody is entitled to your time, skills, resources, or attention. In the past, I’ve found that putting unnecessary pressure on myself during the last few weeks of the year or early in the new year takes away from me genuinely enjoying the present moment. Take these last few days of the year to relax, release and reflect. It’s truly a time to be thankful for all that you have, all that you’ve been blessed to do, and appreciate who you are.
Focus On One Thing At A Time
If your goal is to run yourself ragged in 2022, the quickest way to do so is to attempt to accomplish multiple things at once. Contrary to popular belief, multitasking isn’t all that effective. I’ve found that when I am focused on too many things at once it takes away from that good idea being great. My suggestion to you is, zero in on what’s important and set a plan in place, work toward that plan, accomplish it and move on to the next thing.
Set Realistic Expectations of Yourself
I mean, I am all about setting goals and expecting the best outcome, but sometimes the expectations we set for ourselves lead to burnout and regret. While there is nothing wrong with dreaming big and setting lofty goals for yourself, ensuring you have time, energy, and resources to meet your own expectations is important. It’s one thing to decide to rebrand or launch a business, but relying on yourself to accomplish this goal in 2-3 short months is screaming “I am willingly signing myself up for exhaustion.”
Start by aligning on your goals and expectations. Then draft up a list that includes all the steps it’s going to take to get your goal across the finish line and instead, take a gradual approach that’s more likely to happen. A better approach is to “I’m going to start exercising and eating healthy at least 2 days/week, then slowly increase this as weeks go on”. By taking gradual steps toward your goals, you’re more likely to make it a habit.
Mind Your Thoughts
If you want your actions in life to yield positive results, you have change what you believe about your life and yourself. It easy to assume that because situations have been delayed that you’re not blessed and can’t expect great things to happen to you. This isn’t always true. We’re reminded of this phrase a lot but truly, delayed doesn’t mean you’re denied. When you think a negative thought, practice challenging it with something positive. Just because something negative happens or you have a negative thought, it doesn’t mean you have to attach yourself to the negativity. When you challenge lower energy, you set a new standard for yourself. You are choosing to say that it has no room in our life, heart or mind. Your thoughts and words become things. In the coming year, choose to think and speak positivity over yourself and others. Be sure that the situations you’re materializing with your words and thoughts are fruitful and support the abundant life you wish to live.
One thing about me, I love seeing others winning and happy. However it looks, I want what’s best for all of you in the coming year. I looking forward to sharing my thoughts, life and love with you in 2022! Thank you for all of your love and support this year and all years prior. I can’t wait to see what blessings life will bring us.
xo!
