How I Create The Perfect Weekend At Home
Over the last 2-3 years, I've built a really loving relationship with being at home. I've found time to shop and buy new things that make my home feel a little cozier and create space for me to feel comfortable while being home. There are so many ways to enjoy your time at home and make your Saturdays feel relaxing, refreshing, and revitalizing while practicing social distancing. My life motto is, that I do not believe in being everywhere all the time. I do not believe in over-indulging in others' energy; I genuinely believe in solitude and alone time. Here is everything you need to know about how I create the perfect Saturday while at home.
I Ensure I Wake Up In A Clean Environment
Thursday nights are typically when I clean my home from top to bottom, bleach the floors, and let fresh air in. Because I deep clean on Thursday nights, I do my best to not touch anything in my kitchen on Fridays. I am eating leftovers or takeout on paper plates. My mood is always 100 times better when I wake up and my place is clean and all I have to do is get my day started.
Ambiance Is Key
One of the first things I do on Saturday morning is turn on my favorite weekend morning playlist. For me, good music instantly uplifts my mood. It gives me the energy that I need to get out of bed, has water, stretch, and do my usual morning routine. I don’t just play music for myself, I try to set a good vibe in the morning while I am watering my plants and having a cup of coffee. My plant babies need good music too. Aside from music, it’s my go-to to light some candles and open my drapes to let natural lighting in. I wake up early enough to head to the flower market to buy fresh eucalyptus and other flowers. In order to enjoy the perfect day indoors you really have all of the essentials. Click the button below to download my favorite weekend morning playlist.
I Make Peace With Doing Nothing
The pressure of being out and being busy ruins our weekends and our mood more than we realize. There is no way I am stressing about being out around others, especially in this climate. I don’t worry about being busy. I do my best to completely disconnect and NEVER commit to anything if I know that my focus is enjoying some quality time alone on a Saturday. Doing nothing doesn’t have to mean sitting around twiddling your thumbs. For me, doing nothing looks like writing or journaling, reading a good book, creating mood boards, watching my favorite films, and as of late, planning some outfits for the upcoming fall season.
Cocktails and Good Food
If I am going to be at home, I have to be well-fed and have a good wine or cocktail to sip while I enjoy some much-needed me-time. My go-to wine lately has been Alto Adige Schiava DOC “Menzen” 2019 - Colterenzio.
Making Time For Silence
Time alone gives me space to find answers. My day job is very demanding during the week. I often don’t have the time nor energy to think about the things I need in order to feel like my best self. I don’t typically watch a lot of television and as much as I love a good playlist, there is something so therapeutic about spending time alone, in silence while enjoying a nice beverage. I usually shut down all of my electronics mid-day for about an hour or more to spend some time alone in silence. Time alone helps me to not only better connect with myself but it helps to find clarity. I am always looking for ways to be a better version of myself and improve. It is clarity and silence that brings me to a place of calming, peaceful, clarity.
What’s your idea of a perfect Saturday at home? I would love to hear how some of you are spending your day.
