Owning And Taking Control of Your Life
As you grow and begin to come into your own, developing a routine and taking care of yourself on an emotional, mental and spiritual level should be your top priority. There have been so many times in life that I’ve lacked balance and control simply because I had no idea how to nurture and care for myself. In my opinion, you are your best when you’re well taken care of. My biggest advice to women is to always separate yourself from the idea that you need others to take care of you or help you figure out your needs and desires.
You have to discover your power within without the help of anyone else. You have to look within to find what moves you, what completes and depletes you, and most importantly, what makes you feel free. Knowing who you are, what you need, and what you desire is the foundation for your softness and femininity.
How do you really know if you’re caring for yourself properly if you don’t know yourself or understand your own needs? Developing a strong complex and understanding of who you are is essential to your growth. When life seems uncertain, I always ask myself, “what is that I can control?” Maybe I can’t control what unexpectedly is thrown my way, maybe I can’t control how others respond to me, but I can control how I respond to life and the people in. Here are a few key tips for owning and taking control of your life.
Look To Yourself First
There will be plenty of uncertain moments. You will always have to look within yourself first to overcome any difficulties you may be facing. You have to learn to really tune in to what you feel and develop best practices to overcome difficult moments. How often do you run from your emotions? How often do you attempt to distract yourself out of fear of sitting still and allowing yourself to feel the way you feel.
Avoiding your emotions isn’t healthy, and if you want to develop any ownership over your life and who you are, you must learn to look within and embrace the good, the bad, and the sometimes lonely feelings. You have to acknowledge when things feel heavy, dark, and uncertain. While acknowledging these emotions can sometimes trigger past trauma, it is your gateway to self-control.
Don’t Be Afraid to Invest In Your Future Self.
How will you grow if you’re afraid to take risks? How will you evolve if you’re committed to staying the same? Owning your life can often mean that you have to do some serious internal work and re-alignment. In most cases, a lot of this work requires you to invest in therapy, journals, or self-care sessions that help you to get to where you desire to be. You can’t be afraid to invest in yourself. Figure out what makes you feel good and do more of that. What are you wearing, how is your hair when you feel you're most confident, invest in yourself by doing more of what makes you feel in control over your reality.
Live In Your World
The number one mistake you can make is living vicariously through someone else’s life and dissecting yours based on how you assume they’re living. Are you really owning and in full control of your life if you’re allowing other people's circumstances to determine how you feel about your own? Living in your own world doesn’t necessarily mean you shut everyone out. It just means that you are focused on your growth so much that you don’t have to focus on what others are doing and how they’re living. Societal pressures will make you feel like you’re failing if you allow them to. Own your life, control your thoughts and views of the world. You may not be where you desire to be, but you’re making progress and that is what’s most important.
