The Power of Self-Celebration

“When you celebrate yourself, you begin to grow this unwavering amount of fearlessness. You become unafraid of life's challenges.”

The act of self-celebration feels foreign to a lot of us. Think about what you learned about self-celebration at a young age. You were always taught to tone it down so you don't come off as you're bragging. Your parents always told you to be humble because God snatches blessings from those who brag and boast. But when were you ever allowed to wallow in your joy and blessings? When were you ever allowed to feel good about all that you've accomplished?

I want you to understand that it is a huge deal no matter how small your achievement may seem to you or others. Our lives are moving at a rapid speed. If you don't take the time to celebrate yourself and often reflect on how far you've come, how do you learn to appreciate your life? Think about when you actually took time out to celebrate an accomplishment? Have you ever even done so? If not, here are a few reasons why you should be celebrating yourself now and always.

Celebrating Yourself Is A Confidence Booster

When you celebrate yourself, you begin to grow this unwavering amount of fearlessness. You become unafraid of life's challenges. You get comfortable with the idea that even in your life's most unfavorable moments, you can still win.

What if I told you that your limiting beliefs about who you are and all you can achieve is rooted in your lack of self-celebration? When you feel incapable, you lack the drive to push forward. And when you don't celebrate the moments you've overcome those limiting beliefs, your wins can become overshadowed by imposter syndrome.

When you celebrate yourself, you start to believe in yourself. And when you have an unwavering belief system, you begin to attract goodness in all areas of your life. Being confident doesn't mean you think you're better than others. Being confident means that you know deserve better than what you had the day before so, you're going to be confident in your ability to do more and have more.

“Self-celebration doesn't always have to be some grand gesture. And it would help if you didn't wait until you finally decide to launch that business to make you feel worthy of being honored.”

Celebrating Yourself Teaches You To Honor Other People’s Celebration

How many times have you seen someone else celebrating themselves and feelings of envy or jealousy crept up?

"Who does she think she is?"

"She thinks she's all that."

"He just wants to show off."

"I can't stand them; they're always doing too much."

Suppose you've ever experienced any of these negative thoughts while watching someone else celebrate themselves. In that case, it's probably because you're watching them unapologetically do something you wish you dared to do.

When you dare to stand in your truth and celebrate even the smallest of wins, you stop seeing other people's self-celebration as a threat. Has seeing others live confidently become a trigger for you? It's almost like they're saying what they're saying and doing what they're doing to show off and make you feel bad because you can't relate, right? I can 100% assure you, these thoughts and feelings are all in your mind.

You will always assume ill intent from someone who intimidates you. A huge reason why being secure in yourself is critical. You become secure by celebrating all of who you are and having an unwavering amount of gratitude for your present reality.

Celebrating Yourself Does Not Have To Be Tied To Professional Or Tangible Wins

The most important thing to remember about celebrating yourself is that your celebration does not always need to be connected to career or financial gain. When you convince yourselves, the only time you deserve to be celebrated is when you get a new job, get a raise or splurge on a big purchase; it's limiting.

Sometimes the celebration is you getting out of bed in the morning after feeling defeated for an extended period. Sometimes the celebration is you having the courage to commit to a daily routine to better your health. Sometimes the celebration is in you remembering to read an article that you bookmarked weeks ago. The celebration is in the little too.

Self-celebration doesn't always have to be some grand gesture. And it would help if you didn't wait until you finally decide to launch that business to make you feel worthy of being honored. You have always been worthy, and you always will be. If you have mastered the art of celebrating yourself, today is the perfect day to start.
